some time ago i posted a request for help. it was how to get some oomph out of my 1/24th Arrezo. i was running it on plastic props, only temporarily till i found the size i needed. big mistake someone said go over to brass so i bought the biggest i could fit on. what a difference. about 300%. plenty of power, needs it for turning. just too fast now. ever seen a landing craft tow a water skier! moale, plastic props are no good.
so heres the question. i want too slow it down, dropping to 6v is too much of a loss of power, it wont turn. soo it needs torque. if i drop down too a smaller prop, but make it 4 bladed, will that keep the power but lose me a smidgeon of speed ? does that make sense?

That looks really nice Colin, is it the Sirmar semikit? It's a vessel I've always fancied doing, so your comments on it would be welcomed...

no its not the sirmar. he's is at 1/35th, mines at 1/24th, scratch built. However i have built another one using sirmars hull only. The plans, by jecobin are some of the best of his that i have seen, loads of info. go for it.

How big is your model at 1:24 scale Colin? Are the Jecobin plans drawn at that scale?

she's about 50x14 inches, weighs a ton. the plans are at 1/35th. spend ages measuring and applying a scale factor.

Go for smaller brass props, and talk to Simon at prop shop.
If you want to keep the motors go for smaller props.

what about changing to 3 blade brass props..

Or drop the voltage.
You can also try and turn down your speed controller,
My favourite one though is to run on the trim tabs or small movements on the throttle stick and asill use the power for turning!!

WHAT MAKE ARE YOUR THE PROPS YOU HAVE.

Or if you use electronize speed controllers, you can adjust them for the top speed you would like?
And if you cook them, they are repairable..... buddy good reason sez I. [having cooked one]
