Title: Information please, steam
Post by: KBIO on November 28, 2017, 11:55:01 am
Hello!
I am starting a kind of booklet of what has been done on the market of our "steam hobby", and I count on this forum to supply me with some informations.
To start with, I work on Reeves engines and I wish to have the maximum of informations on the Consort ( overhall size, bores & stroke) + if you have, a pic or two will be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards.

Hi YVES,

In an old Catalogue of reeves the Consort  engine is a development of the Emperor engine and the Sovereign Engine.
The Consort is 6.25" long x 5.625" high x 3.5" wide and is a reversing double crank  triple expansion  engine with the high pressure cylinder in tandem with the lowest pressure cylinder on top
The cylinder bores are 1/2"x 7/8' x1' bore x 3/4" stroke.

The drawings are available from Reeves as well as castings here is the link to the Stationary engine section where the Consort is listed.         (http://www.ajreeves.com/consort.html )

Hello  !
I hope that my post is not too old ...  {:-{

Coming back on this engine: I have the plan and a friend of mine is  volunteer to machine it down .
That's good new ! But by studying the drawing in this afternoon , we are wondering how the steam goes from top cylinder down the one below.
If you have small drawing or explanation that can help us, we would appreciate .

Also, I'd like to know if the casting proposed at a discount price is worth to buy and if it is brass or bronze ?
Thanks a lot for the answer.
Regards. ok2
