Title: Semi scale Pietropavlowsk
Post by: Walnut on February 20, 2018, 02:47:14 pm
Inspired by the semi scale Borodino, I joined the forum with the intention of building a semi scale version of the Russian 1904 pre dreadnought Pietropavlowsk. The choice of ship was soley based on the fact that I could build a 'Glynn Guest' semi scale type hull and that the superstructure was within my time, patience and build capabilities with the addition and enhancement of commercial fittings.

I am going to use the Modelik 1:200 card model and upscale it to 1:100 giving an overall length of 1.15 m with plenty of room for the motor and battery etc.

I am going to build the 'white' version. I dont like the grey. It's going to be a generic 1:00 semi scale pre dreadnought that will stand out on grey water on grey sailing days.
Once I make a start I'll post some photos.

Yes please Mr Walnut. I know that Glynn has considered doing a Battleship for ages and perhaps seeing your efforts at building a wider hulled vessel with its fatter shape will inspire him to investigate further.

For reference: Pete Sub Man has built several early 20th Century warships incuding Borodino, so it would be worth searching for 'Semi scale Borodino' to see his ideas to building simpler models.

The good thing about pre dreadnoughts is that they are impressive but not overly long. Good if you do not own a glider trailer or a super long estate car!

Hey Walnut,

Did you have any luck with your build?
