Title: Damaged T4A motors

I have damaged the motors in my HMS Goliath aircraft carrier.  They are the Mobile Marine Models T4A and otherwise are great motors to run.  A bit difficult (for me at least) to connect to and in doing so I damaged the connection - I think inside the motors.  It seems that the back plastic cover will slide of the motor to enable me to get inside to repair the connections, but I am nervous about things flying off in all directions when the cover comes off. Can anyone advise please?  Thanks. Brian

Blueprint everything before you start, then disassemble very gently ( in a confined space) expecting things to fly off. nemesis

Yes that is the safe way.  I have since heard that it is not guaranteed that the motor will run again if one dismantles it, so I will try to redo the soldered joint instead first. Thanks.  Brian

 I might be asking the obvious, but have you asked MMM? They probably know the motors better than anyone.

Hi Chas, yes I have. They said that it is a finicky business and they warned me that the motor might not work after the operation. Not sure why, but if there are springs and things holding brushed etc then I would prefer to stay well clear. The nice thing about this forum is that there is so often someone who has done the thing before and can offer help - alas not this time. Cheers. Brian

 A new one is only £12.50  not going to break the bank or is it dear to post to you if so why not ask if anyone on forum is coming out on holiday or visiting family and post your end just a thought.

put it inside a large plastic bag as you disassemble and it should stop the bits flying.

Thanks guys.  The plastic bag is a great idea, not only for this operation! Using the personal courier from UK is something I do on occasion as the postage costs to SA are horrific, usually because the item is couriered as the SA postal system here is just so unreliable. I had not thought about asking on the forum. B
