Title: Glue for GRP
Post by: ajb63 on May 03, 2018, 10:29:32 am
Hi,  l am building my first model of 1/16 Tamar lifeboat. l need to glue the various lengths of styrene Kick Plate Strips to the fibre glass deck . On other parts of the hull I've used araldite . Can superglue be used for GRP? . I did a sample piece using Loctite 406 instant glue, which was about 4 year old and gone like treacle. It spread easily and stuck well, no mess. Does instant glue deteriorate or should I stick with the 2 part epoxy . What do others builers use for small styrene to GRP bonds. Thanks for any advice.
Alan

On my latest GRP build I have been using the Gorilla superglue GEL . Stuck the styrene on as if welded have a feeling (hope) that this is not going to jellify
