Title: Type 21 flight deck lighting
Post by: pdq on June 07, 2018, 08:33:59 pm
Hello all, a new request on my HMS Active build....Can anyone tell me if the type 21s and HMS Active in particular circa late 80s had flight deck lighting built into the deck. I appreciate. that gantry lighting would be available strung from superstructure etc, but i cannot find anything on the deck itself. As always grateful for your wisdom. Paul

There was nothing like that built into the flight deck and I served on Active in 1978 and 1992 - 94

You are welcome Paul

FWIW I was also in Alacrity 1987 - 89 and have quite a few photos of the upper deck detail from then which I can dig out if you get stuck - the T21s didn't vary a lot on the  main bits of kit by then.

As the Guys said, definitely no lights in the deck, I did many refits on the remaining six post 1985 at Devonport.
Alacrity Allnightin, photos you say? I have her on my build list (not for a while mind...enough to do already) as she was in 82 down South. If you do dig the pics out.....well, I would be very grateful.
