i have a smit nederland currently running two 385 motors, can anybody tell me what size 3 bladed props i should use. thanks in advance.

My Smit Zweden, a very similar size to the Smit Nederland, runs off two 50 mm 3 blade props. I would have thought that 385's may be a bit small for 50 mm props and would suggest a couple of Mabuchi 555's (One of my favourites I must admit though!)

cheers john, slight problem, whoever put the shafts in only used 5 inch and there is no room for bigger motors (they do not poke through enough). i was going to use 45mm blades and hope that works.

Hello Glowworm, my Smit Nederland is fitted with twin 540 motors and there is quite sufficient power for the purpose.
If it's not feasible to change the proptubes, you could instead just change the prop shafts for longer ones and set your choice of motors to suit.
Also, if possible, post a photo or two of the problem area - this might help to clarify the problem you are facing.
Regards,
Ray.

Using a longer coupling, e.g. a double universal joint instead of a single, might bring the motors forward enough to allow for a larger size.
