Title: Nitro Glow Plug comparison chart
Post by: bj on June 30, 2018, 10:05:58 am
Can anyone point me in the direction of a grade comparison chart for (2 stroke) nitro glow engines?
Different manufacturers seem to have different reference numbers.
So far I have not found much to help.

Only shows Model Technics, Rossi, OS and Enya though, none of which I use, and Model Technics I wouldn't touch with a barge pole in a 'hot' engine.
Generally speaking the terms used from hot through cold translate well between manufacturers.

Personally I use Novarossi plugs, and have tried O'Donnell plugs with good success. I know one of my mates down the lake is a big fan of the O'Donnell plugs. I get my Nova plugs from Answer, A 4 is a mid hot, 5 is medium and 6 is a mid cold. Nova also do the HR range in extra hot, hot and cold, and the C range from ultra hot to ultra cold

Most plugs seem to be rated at 1.2 to 1.5 volts. Model Technics seem to rate theirs as 1.5 to 2 volts.
Must admit that I liked the now defunct Taylor plugs

Nova specify the use of 1.5v, I've had a couple of Model Technics plugs over the years and if they lasted more than 5 minutes, they were doing very well.
