Has anyone ever used this type of motor in a tug...its a early MMM motor.
-
is it a smith fan motor?
think you will find its meant to be 24v...
brilliant for fast scale models
-
Yep, Smiths type fan motor, a great motor.
I had one in a 1/32 scale tug running on 12V, turning a 70 mm prop in a Kort nozzle and it was pretty powerful and efficient :-))

i have a pair of them, came with a eldergarth tug hull.
wondering if you can get some kind of mounts for them
-
cable tie it to a plank of wood in the bottom. or a large jubilee clip
-
I understand there are some out there that will only run in one direction of rotation, no matter how they are connected, check before buying??
-
it looks like their 900 size 12 pole motor - ideal for driving a large prop. I have a pair of their later silver colour 900 12 pole version.

Yes I had the same problem from the same source , and ended up fitting twin 555 geared motors and they tow anything I put on her with an impressive bow wave
