Dear all,
I am a new member, based in Nth London - joined yesterday - though I have been making and refurbishing model boats for the last 50 years. My fleet consists of:
- 1960s Billing boat trawler 'Progress'. Sails beautifully on Hampstead Heath boating lake.
- 'Cranborne' 2 hatch coaster from Model Engineer 1961-64. Brass hull and superstructure, tin plate decks and hatches. A beautiful model made by an expert engineer - very detailed. Took me 1 year to repair and complete. She is RC equipped and floats - but only 6mm freeboard! Would sink like a stone in rough weather!
- A recent purchase is 'Ann M', another coaster, but this one has a steel hull and decks and wooden superstructure. Build from plans in Model Maker, July 1962. She is very well built yet has no fittings or detail added - will give me many years of fun doing this! She is 57" long!
My first questions - all concerning Ann M:
- Marx decaperm motor - its noisy (gearbox) and does not respond well to my ESC. Can you suggest an alternative please?
- Does any other member have the same ship?
- Fittings - where to buy? - Westbourne Models and Modelling timbers have both closed I believe,
Regards

Hello,I have the plans of the Ann M and some photographs. I also piloted the ship on many occasions when she was under the Metcalfs flag, hence my interested in building a model of her.

Canalpilot,
Plans that you have - are these the plans as advertised in Model Maker July 1962? Can you send me copies of your photographs, also, can you describe the ships colours - especially hull and decks please?
I can send you copies of the information that I have if you would like,
Regards
