Title: Haydock Park - Sat/Sun 25/26 August 2018
Post by: Davy1 on August 07, 2018, 08:05:58 am
Hi,

Just a reminder of the rather good Model Boat Convention over the Bank Holiday. Usually a fair number of submarines on display including a fully manned AMS stand.

8 pounds to get in, bit much to ask on top of fuel cost to get there.

Cheap at twice the price, the best model boat show going, in my humble opinion.

What does £8 pounds by these days? Yes I we all have fuel costs and accommodation to pay for but we must not forget the owners of the site increase their costs. Sadly the organisers have no control over this and I understand the price this year has decreased from last year. We are losing model boat shows at a tremendous rate so we have two choices support them or lose them. In terms of entrance fees just take for example the I P M S show at Telford held in November queuing out of the doors both days and paying £10 to £12 to gain entry and some of these guys travel from different parts of the world.

The price reflects what it costs to stage the show and the likely footfall. There is no profiteering going on. Just compare it with visiting other popular attractions and it comes out very much at the cheaper end. Not much more than a couple of pints of beer.
Cost of getting there is irrelevant as it is different for everyone. I can't make it due to other family commitments but if I were free I'd probably stay a couple of nights in a Travelodge and it would still be worth going.
