Stuff on Ebay.... Perhaps not such a bargain...?
... deleted all the old stuff....! :-)

this guy really is in a world of his own, if he thinks two incomplete wrecks are going to fetch at least £5000.00p
and he isn't joking...a friend asked what offer he would take, expecting an answer of a few hundred, and I believe the answer came back as something close to the £5 K...…..
a dreamer or insane, lol.

what makes that tug 'rare'? The model itself or the fact it’s rare to find one still in the box?
EBay is a useful tool if you know what you’re doing, but it does have its fair share of idiots and profit hogs...
I had a look at a few items on eBay and when I think of the junk in my garage I'm sitting on a fortune!
I've got loads of old Mabuchi/Johnson motors....if I invested in some Matt black paint...

but it does have its fair share of idiots
you are certainly right...……
bearing in mind that I didn't expect to sell this little rib for the £900 that I was asking I have had a couple of bids of 600 and 650.....but neither wanted to come to the frozen north to collect, and I refuse to post it after the hard work I put in to restore it...….
but this guy really shows his mind set...…..you gotta laugh...……..and then ebay sanction me for sending him a message for saying "LOL" SAYING I WAS BULLYING HIM...……...you gotta laugh at these deranged people, {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)
why do they actually waste their time submitting such farcical bids.the mind boggles!!! %% %% %%

Hi. I have only had one experience with ebay contacting me, they are crazy to say the least. There was a picture of half a dozen boats for sale and a starting price. I contacted the seller and asked what was for sale an item, not specified, or the whole lot.
I got a message from ebay threatening to disbar me for a month!
I got them to apologise in the end.
Beggars belief!
regards Roy

A few months back I was selling some unused model aircraft kits and I didn’t know that eBay now put a button for ‘offer’ on most bidding adverts. I was offered a relatively decent amount for one kit but when I looked further into the bidder I discovered that they were in Australia and wanted the same postage I had put down on the original advert- £2.80 second class post via Royal Mail- I rightly refused the offer due to the postage would be higher and his offer was £7.50 below my starting bid. Cheeky I thought that he offered that much below my starting bid and wanted the same postage, a few hours later I had another one from a different bidder asking if I’d accept a much lower offer, I hate this method of bidding/offers as it starts taking up your time to consider and counter offer which often leads no where!

You can actually set a value below which offers will be automatically rejected.

Barrie
That is what I have done Barrie, but who in their right mind offers a quid and then ups it 25p each time on a model you have set a high value on.........defies the laws of logic really,

Thanks Barrie, I will do that next time :-))

It’s more to with the honour of owning the wrecks than any salvage rights as rightly so they are preserved as historic monuments. To be honest I don’t know why the current owner doesn’t just give them to a proper organisation that’ll look after them. If not it’s seems to be a furlong hope that one day the British government will change their minds but I seriously doubt it!

Hi all, I came across this looking for model yachts. Seems to have been sold
https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/808818414310432860/
This is labelled as a yacht from 1910? Looks rather more modern to me.

Possably 1910 was the time the model was made rather than 1910 CE (politicaly correrct)

A Glenbur rubber-powered sub from 1949 or 1950. The rudder has been broken off, but it's worth a lot more than £8.50.

I was looking at that also! Lots of stuff on eBay at moment ....ironically collection only so a very big wait I guess. I don't know how they get away with it at moment.

For those who wanted HFM pilot boats there is one listed at the moment. Supposedly (and looks very convincingly) the Model Boats magazine article boat (was it built but a guy called Phil?). I'd take it as a second model to match mine but no postage and auction only, but it's out there if you fancy it while there's no offers of new mouldings yet!
See if this works. Phone isn't good at copying weblinks....

...yes it works! Needs a bit of repair and a hemaroid operation but a good base.

I am presently going through my loft - supposedly tidying up and sorting through bits, when I came across two model boats magazines, 1 from 1980 and the other June 1982, both had various items I was interested in like what got me into model boats with a letter to the editor over the fitting out of a flower class corvette, which I subsequently did when I bought one in 1982, the other was for a 67 foot MTB, (I still have the plans for it and several gliders that came from my father who worked with someone who didn't want them), whilst looking through the mag - as you do, I saw a glenbur sub - point being, funny old world init.

It''s still a kit so a silly price these days.
Not as if it is a scratchbuild like this.

Huntsman gotta be a Joke
I hope the owner had words with the builder who built it for him, because unless he wanted a Fairey Huntsman 2831, they got it wrong.
Yes, credit where its due, a pretty impressive looking boat but, its no Huntsman 31 I'm afraid. The forward half is completely wrong for a start.
I can't imagine it selling for half the asking price personally.
I'd be tempted to remove that motor and cut my losses on the rest, selling it for whatever I could get.
But, that's just me.
Will
-
I agree with Will,
It is a nice drive train installation, but.....lets be fair it is a tad (ohh really)over priced /valued. Peace mill would be better as that is some motor, as for the rest, well we all know we spend many hours building a model which in real terms we will never get back.
Just my opinion ok2
-
C'mon guys, you're ruining someones retirement nest egg dreams. <:(

One to watch out for. Seems that the Deans 'Britannia' kit Stan advertised a few weeks ago was sold and dispatched via the winged messenger. Although a tracked delivery service, it seems to have 'disappeared'. This may resurface (bad pun) as a bargain via car boots or the magic 'Flee'.
Regards Ian.

Another SeaPort / Dickie tug .... £400!!!!
Did read somewhere that for listing like these, they haven't actually got the item for sale, maybe awaiting stock, but they want to keep the listing active ... but at £400, they can get one airfreighted in direct from China!
