Title: Inga IV for sale!
Post by: roycv on August 20, 2018, 11:01:53 pm
Hello all, I have been surfing the net and find that Inga IV, the prototype at 12 inches to the foot, is for sale.

http://www.inga-4.de/Zu-verkaufen/

Asking price is Euro 190,000. Text is German.

There is an excellent video of the yacht and she does look rather different more practical, and surprisingly a bit more modern than the Hegi / Wedico kit.  The general outline and the deck fittings are very similar.  The kit has been treated to a bit of marquetry by Hegi pretty but not prototype.  The video goes over the whole boat and provides much detail.

I am just about to do a bit of updating to my (model) one with new sails and renew the sail controls and make the insides simpler and hopefully the rigging easier to set up.  She is quite old and this a second refit, first was a strip down in 2008.

I will try and do some photos as I go on.
regards Roy

Well done Derek I think I have been steadily losing my 'brights'.  Never thought I would see the original boat.

Roy.....for some unknown quirk....you need to hit both Translate Icons when any new page is selected ......most European native tongue  WEB sites do respond to this and it is far simpler  :-)) than copy & paste to a translator.......

Do you think your Son would like her to sail on Brisbane Water?  O0

She is a lovely looking yacht, bit beyond my means though so I will have to stick to my model. Took me ages to plank the deck.

Hi Derek,he has a new yacht now a Beneteau 40 Oceanis.  And it won't go under the Rip bridge so he has to sail with others to be on Brisbane Water now.  Still it is faster and gets out to sea a lot quicker.
I have already booked my ticket for early next year, an offer I could not refuse, £720 return to Oz!

Hi RMH that is a nice looking boat, do you use a sail arm or winch?

We run a fleet of the this type of boat and we use sail arm winches. Very pleasurable to sail. nemesis

I have a winch in mine but have never had a great deal of success with it, but it's been sat on the shelf for years so doubt I will be changing anything anytime soon.

Hi, my Inga IV was given to me by a fellow club member who was not able to run her anymore.  I stripped and refurbished her and got rid of the complex insides.  They had grown like Topsy over the years.

There is an old 'push pull' winch that can get tangled and I think I shall change to an arm winch, so much easier.  The person who gave me the boat was an automotive engineer, he was a senior man in British Leyland and would set up production lines.

I know it was incomplete when he got her and he put red sails on her and these I am sending off into the sunset.  The ones I got from Neil are going in nicely although there is a lot of dismantling required. He used to bring her to the lake so I could sail her and she does go well.  Which is probably why I ended up with her.

Hi, I run an Inga and IF you are going to bin the sails a I am very interested. But you never know when you might need them. Nemesis, Bill Carpenter.

Hi nemesis, you are welcome to them, send me a p.m. with address and I will send them to you. They need some stitching where they are held in the booms but the rest of the stitching looks professional.
No charge if you want to put in a RNLI donation that will be fine by me.
kind regards
Roy
