Title: Two Speed Controllers

Am I right in the assumption that if you are using two speed controllers you need to remove the red wire from one ESC?

If the ESC have a BEC, battery eliminator circuit, to the receiver, then Yes.

Instead of cutting one of the red wires on one of my twin screw ESC installations, I used an ice pick to press down on the retaining tab, and pulled the wire out of the connector.  Then I taped it back out of the way.  That way I can reinstate the BEC function if I move that ESC to another boat in the future.
