Hi Peter,
Its Roy Jury just wondering if the new proposed Bypass will be close to or cause you any problems,
I certainly hope not mate, but the town does really need to be Bypassed...………..
-
Roy, we are just over 200 km north of Coffs, so it won't impact directly on us, however I use the highway regularly and travelling through Coffs can be very slow. I do feel sorry for those farmers whose land will be affected by the current plan, as the proposed route goes west of the town and will cause severe problems for those in its path. I agree that the town needs to be bypassed, and should have been years ago, as it's a massive bottleneck on a busy highway. There was talk of tunnels at one stage, but apparently that idea has been shelved in favour of the current route. I would have thought that tunnels would have been the least disruptive option, but what do I know? When the Woolgoolga to Ballina section of the M1 is complete, Coffs Harbour will be the only remaining serious impediment to traffic flow, with dual carriageway on the rest of the trip from Sydney to Brisbane, over 900 km.
Peter.

My cousin got married in Coffs Harbour back in 1996. We travelled from the north of Brissy to it in one day.

I know, but us Poms get excited driving 150 miles. We need a wee break and a coffee break unless we drive through a meal time and then a sandwich and cake is required as well :} Driving five hours to get the bloody post is amazing when you think about it.

I had to come to Newcastle NSW today to attend the funeral of a dear cousin of my wife's, so had to battle the traffic in Coffs Harbour on the way down, I think we got every red light <*< I was amazed at how much work has been done on the highway since our last trip, it's really good now, and we had a great run.
