Title: Error message

hi guys, just had a terrible time trying to log in to mayhem subjects,eg.unread posts,
Chit chat, etc, a 500 server error kept popping up.
I tried to mail about th error and was told the message was rejected.
What on earth is a 500 server fault?
And how do I stop getting them?

Seems to happen when the server is slow in responding.
Earlier today it was very slow and 500 errors kept
appearing.

Happens all the time here but a quick use of the back button and reclick usually solves the problem.
