Whilst hand sanding (near by) I have inadvertently scratched the surface of my lovingly prepared multy-coated varnished partition panel of my victorian steam boat model! The scratches are surface scratches to the varnish coating only and not deep into the wood.Does anyone have any idea how to polish out these scratches without dismantling half the model to remove and totally revarnish?Any tips would be appreciated.

Very Very Fine Scotchbrite pad, light rubs followed by a final shine with Brasso wadding polish.
