Title: Five bladed props
Post by: Rob47 on November 30, 2018, 02:12:05 pm
as it appears that George Sitek or st least his team are not prepared to honour his agreement to make replacement props for HM Bristol I need to look elsewhere, so a good source for brass five bladed RN style props is needed
Any suggestions as been googling away and not having much luck

Simon at Protean Design is the go to guy.
Was prop shop but went out on his own.
Best around IMHO.

totally agree Ned...…...I sit in awe looking at those propellers of his that I have...…..

some people have a fetish for shoes or other deviant perversions...…..

I just love Simons beautiful propellers…...and collect them...………..haven't a b****y clue what I'll ever do with them...…….but they are just so tactile and a joy to look at...……….and they shove a boat along superbly as well, lol

told him that at Blackpool as well.

A mixed bag of replies from personal experiences

I hope GS pick up

I too must congratulate and applaud Simon & Dan at Protean. I believe Simon recently re acquired the prop shop name

I find it strange that George has let you down, I take it you have called him?
He just finished a superb set of running gear for me and can’t fault him in previous dealings.

Prop shop do make nice props and have used them too  :-))

Cant call as no number provided, dealt with the two girls who do admin, also the other guy who is part of the team
Always have had good service, but it seems that he has family issues and also as he was doing this as a favour no job number and as FOC no receipt.  What does worry me is the other chap told me that there is no IT program for the props I want, yet George produced a whole running set in 1/72 for HMS Bristol, so they must be there.  Think it is the
 staff not him

Hi Rob,
Hope you are well Mate!
Might I ask why you need another pair of props for Bristol?

Although located in the US, I can thoroughly recommend Keith Bender, who goes under the username 'propmeup1', and his contact details can be found on the Warship Models Underway forum.
I had an 85mm dia five bladed prop from him for a future model, and his quality is the best I have seen.

Hi ya, living USA now, is that a work move?

need a pair of props as lost the stbd one in June, George makes them as matched pairs, hence the reason  Glad to say all is now sorted with him and normal service is resumed.

Hey Rob,

Nah, I'm still Downunder. I meant Keith Bender is located in the States.
Glad you are sorted out now though with George.
I will try to find five minutes to email you for a catch-up, it's been a while. So busy with work at the moment. I have been "Flatout like a lizard drinking", as the say in these ere parts.

Catch up would be great, can send you then some of the old girl  BTW she is going in for refit in 2020, all heads being removed and replaced with unisex cubicles, its in keeping with schools and RN,  That's just one of the many things to do on here, but good news all round, that she is staying for a long time
