Title: 1/12 scale Pacific 24 RIB
Post by: T888 on December 02, 2018, 11:56:34 am
Hi, One of my side projects has been a Pacific 24 RIB.
Andy of MBD supplied me have one of his RIB,s hulls. After a few months mulling over what I was going too With it . Build it as an RNLI RIB or do something different.
When John Willis a fellow Solent Model club and SWA member (scalewarships) asked what I thought about the new 1/96 & 1/72 Pacific 24 RIB kit,s they had produce.
I thought why not covert MBD RID to a pacific.😏
So I modified the hull, by increasing its depth, also modified it to take a KMB 28 water jet. As for the rubber hull section , the pre detailing was sanded back to basic. Then I added detailing in line with an Pacific.
The model has had a couple of sea trails, which has shown the NiMh pack (12v 5000amp) i used was too heavy. This put the hull too deep in the water and allowed water to come over the transum when reducing speed. So I've replaced them with a LiPo 3s pack , which is lighter and has given better duration.
I still have a lot of detailing to add before its complete.
