Title: Inga IV - RX antenna advice needed
Post by: johnworrit on January 01, 2019, 01:03:23 pm
After 30 years in a box in the attic, my INGA IV has been resurrected.  I have all the electro-mechanical functions working but I had to replace my even older 27Mhz RC with a new Futaba 2.4GHz.  The RX antenna is very short.  The old 27MHz antenna actually ran up the full height of the mainmast.  Will this Futaba antenna give me enough range?  Should it be kept high and outside the hull?  Should it (can it be) extended?
Your help would be appreciated.

Hi well done resurrecting your Inga, working on my one at the moment.  Forget the old antenna as the 2.4 Ghtz is different with the very small aerial mounted in or next to the receiver.
I still use the 27Mhtz and 40 Mhtz radios, nothing wrong with them and with the migration of modellers to 2.4 have freed them up a lot.
All the best,
Roy

NO need to extend any 2.4 ghz aerial just use it as is

With the 2.4gz you just need to keep the rx above the waterline, I normally fix mine to the underside of the deck with Velcro and have had no problem with any of my yachts.

Many thanks for that advice - all boxes ticked.
Happy New Year to all.
