Title: Upscaling on a 3D printer
Post by: Twinpipe on February 14, 2019, 11:20:40 am: I know absolutely nothing about 3D printing and wondered whether any one can offer some advice / direction on whether its possible to scan an existing 3D figure (1:35) and duplicate it at 1:12?
If its possible has anyone any contacts for anyone who could do this?

Post by: grendel on February 14, 2019, 12:34:17 pm: it is possible, though you would be losing the fine detail by scaling up, the scanning is the tricky bit, my printer has an inbuilt scanner - this is next to useless, you can get reasonable scanners.
I have printed reasonable figures in 1/12 scale using a free program called makehuman to generate the figures, you can customise the features to get a decent figure.
alternatively there are companies out there where you could go and be scanned yourself in any given pose, that can produce a mini you in any size you want (at a price)

it not too bad and can be picked up cheapy

You can use a normal camera to take photos and software can then give you a pretty good 3D model out of it

I'll bet a few will be "scaled up" %% %% %% Making rash promises that cannot be lived up to leading to "disappointing encounters" {-) {-)
