Hoping your experience can help a nubee. My hull is planked, sealed and sanded 2 part epoxy. Then l used 3/4 oz fiberglass laid with the 2 part epoxy again. I am wondering the best type of paint for the hull. Thanks

I use plastic undercoat and car spray paints with no problems. One boat is nearly 20 years old. :-))

use a plastic primer first, nemesis

Thank you for the guidance. What do you mean . " Plastic undercoat " ?
I have found in these forums, pending where on this plant you are located, terminology can be different.
Thanks

Basically a primer paint intended for use on plastic parts in cars. e.g. car bumpers. (In the USA read fenders) It should bond better than a primer intended for metal.

Here in Canada you can find Krylon Fusion paints which supposedly bond to plastics better than regular spraypaint. Any spray primer will work just fine too.

Plastic primer etches the surface of the plastic or gel coat of a laminate therefore enabling the following coats to bond, done properly it is very difficult to scrape the paint off the surface. nemesis

Tbh you dont really need a plastic primer at all, this is simply because it is not plastic at ll but Grp,if you are at all afraid the primer will lift with I know it will not then in Halfords they sell an etch primer, apply this first then primer afterwards,in all the years of preparing grp panels for cars boats and actually planes I have never had paint peeling just using a normal primer, preparation is the key to success.30 odd years of painting experiance tells me this O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0
