After seeing Kpnuts amazing Citroen DS transporter build I thought I may as well post a recent model car build of my own here as well.

Hells bells, I've just spent an AGE putting together a set of pics and explanations of my recent model car build and I get a message to tell me I can't modify the original posting as it's run out of time! {:-{
Not only that, it's impossible to get back to my original file with all the pics and descriptions included! >:-o
Well stuff it, I'm not going through that lot again so you'll all just have to imagine it! What a stupid system it is that has a time limit on modifications of posts!

Well I have to say I think it would have been an incredible post, how about starting a new one.

I'd have to re-write the whole thing from scratch, and it'll take a while.
I may do it sometime in the future but right now I'm REALLY tee'd off with the stupid 'time' rule'

It has happened to many......[me included :embarrassed: ]......any posting more that 1/2 a dozen lines......type the original in Word or Outlook then copy & paste.............. Derek

But why does it do it?
I'm on another forum which uses the Simple Machines software and there you can edit a post YEARS after you originally wrote it so it's not embedded in the code, it must be an option.

I understand Kit...and am in the same boat [no pun] to be able to revise text in other Forums without complaint or issue
If I do change a major element of text, I usually provide a courtesy footer that "certain text has been changed" or mark the original text as etc
However it is a decision here of the MBM forum owner...along the lines of avoiding a .....'he said, but now it reads & subsequent argument'
So I understand the MBM Rule & accept it as such

its common policy on a lot of forums, as mainly a spam defence, it is not unknown that spammers will post a normal message, then a week later come and edit the post to a spam post - the editing does not flag up to the admins so the spam remains until spotted and reported.
there is also the post one thing - generate a lot of adverse comments, then change the original leaving people wondering why all those adverse comments syndrome. compose in word and paste in is by far the best option if you are about to post a long post.
i sometimes have problems posting here as we have a limited time on non work related websites at work, this cuts in with a banner page informing how much leisure use you have left which can interrupt and disallow a posting here, usually I have to hit accept, and can go back to get to the text I have entered, but sometimes it doesnt work. Hmm - just did it when i tried to post, but I got back ok

the thing is the setting can be 30 minutes, 3 hours, a few days or a week, depending upon who set up the board.

This type of limitation is found on other Websites.
The rule was put in place on ModelBoatMayhem due to flame wars.
Person 1 would post an inflammatory statement. Then person 2 would react.
Person 1 would then go back and edit the original post and them claim innocence, leaving person two looking silly, but leaving them more irate.
Basically digging a trap for others to fall into, and then going back to hide the evidence.
Sadly it does inconvenience other posters who have a legitimate need to edit a post later, like yourself.
Some very useful practical ways to prepare long posts has been given above.
