I had a very enjoyable time at the Kirklees open day.
For me it is a very friendly and welcoming event.
Folk stop and talk, because they want to, not just because they are at a Show!.
Welcoming Smiles cannot be faked, nor can genuine interest in the Models and their owners.
I really enjoyed the Day and I am looking forward to their next one.

It was an early start for me up at 6 am and on the road by 6.45 and the weather didn't look too good low cloud and drizzle. However once again the weather was on our side. A very pleasant warm sunny day. Representatives from 15 clubs attended and also 4 traders and of course the RNLI. We had lots of models of all types on display. Some very large lifeboat models were on display by the Lifeboat Enthusiasts Society. There were also some very nice sail models, very brightly coloured so they stood out when they were on the water. We had 3 big hovercrafts also on display. Amongst the scale models there was a huge variety of models. The Editor of Model Boats kindly did the presentations for best tug model and best Kirklees Model. At 2 pm we encourage as many models to be on the water and I am pleased to say we had 32 models of all types and sizes take part. The day finished with the raffle. Thanks to everyone who travelled whether it be a short or long distance, to once again make the day a success. Pictures to follow.

First visit to a Kirklees MBC event and what a great day it turned out to be !
Wilton Park has to be one of the finest model boating venues on the planet -
quaint old fashioned public park, traditional boating lake with all round accessibility, car parking, flower gardens,
cafe serving bacon butties, ice cream van, toilets etc etc, it doesn't get any better !
Thanks go to Stan and team for the enetertainment and organizing - putting on a great show,
JayDee has summed it up nicely about the atmosphere and generosity of folk present,
many inspiring models to watch in continuous action on the water, we will be back.

Update to my first report. I forgot to mention our club members who were displaying a selection of military vehicles. A large area was set out to include buildings, bridges and obstacles included knocked out tanks. A large collection of models were on display both static and running. The models ranged from World War 2 to modern times from different parts of the world. Along with the model boats on display these proved very popular.
