Title: Bait Boat Help
Post by: horse1uk on May 10, 2019, 08:23:36 am
Good Morning all, thank you for letting me join, I'm after some help from some experienced and knowledgeable chaps, i hope you don't mind me asking.

I'm a keen Carp Angler and spend three weeks a year in France fishing, around 6 years ago i bought a very good bait boat with echo sounder from a German Company called Carplounge, they are meant to be the experts in this type of thing, i was very pleased with it until i had some issues, to cut a long story short the boat was sent back to Germany a four times to have it repaired and not under warranty as the repairs were down to use rather than mechanical fault, this is a continuous point.
When it come back the last time i had burnt my bridges with them and i decided to open up the boat to see what they had done as it was still making a noise, i found that the motor mounts to one motor had snapped, very poorly fabricated/designed.

Bait boats are not meant to be opened up they spoil the warranty and manufactures don't like working on them after someone else has been inside,  they make it very difficult to open up however i did just that and i was horrified to see the poor quality of the work, the moldings and the way it had been assembled.
I had to modify the motor beds as best as i could,  i found some parts on line that were meant to be specialist for a few pennies rather than the hundreds of pounds that i was being charged for the same thing, the top of the range motors seem to be cheap and nasty RS components entry level motors, i guess your seeing where i am with this now, i modified the lid so i can take it apart easier and only had to silicone around the center as again its poorly designed and was left with no option other than to seal it in that way. I believe all the boats are the same but its the technology inside the boat where you pay.

I could replace the boat for another manufacturer or for an upgrade but I'm not in the position where i can shell out another 2.5k with a company i don't have any confidence in.

The motors on one side have started making a noise, i haven't lifted the lid yet as I'm away on Saturday for another trip and i don't want to end up in a position where i break it, when i get back i plan to take the lid off again and see whats going on,  i have no idea how to replace these, or modify the boat etc to enable them to replaced, the electronics in the boat seems to be quite complex and the added Echo Sounder i don't want to ruin by connecting wires up wrongly.

Can you recommend someone that has the knowledge and wherewith how to be able to service and replace or repair the motors and working parts, get the boat back to a reasonable condition, I'm not looking for a speed boat I'm quite happy with what it does know i just need the piece of mind and friendly advise of what can be done, I'm happy to pay i just don't want to rely on the people it come from before.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message and in advance for any help or advise offered.

Best Regards Jon
