Title: Torpedo 800 or CME 900 motor

I have 2 Torpedo 800 motors fitted in a Solent lifeboat, I feel that these are not powerful enough(perviously fitted with 2 decaperms).CME 900 motors look ideal, would these be a better option?

the Solent is a difficult boat to motor due to the tunnel config. there is a thread on here somewhere that tells you which esy the motors should rotate,  and this makes a big difference to handling.

The Deccaperms run about 3750, the 800's about 4000 rpm.
Have you thought about 850's run about 9000 rpm.

Evening olly
Can you tell use the size of the props fitted to the model
What battery are you running 6 v or 12 v
The CME 900 motors are only 3000 rpm at 12volts
The MFA 800 4289 RPM at 12 volts
The MFA 850 9778 RPM AT 12 volts


As the Solent lifeboat is a large model i guess it will be heavy

Possibly a good time to remember that the Solent class were not high speed boats.  The existing power, whatever it might be, might be right.  Thats assuming that the existing motors are in good working order and driving the right props.
