Post by: rhavrane on June 11, 2019, 07:00:39 am
Bonjour,
I have sent messages to Simon Higgings and I have not received any answer, do you know if he goes on making proPellers ?
I am not registered on Facebook so used the email he mentionned to try to contact him.
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Raphaël
I noticed that you have not spelled Simon's surname correctly in your post. As a regular victim of this myself I'd advise you to check the spelling on the E-Mail address you used. Using 'Cut and Paste' with the one quoted by Taranis would be the best idea for further E-Mails. I bought a prop from Protean Design less than a month ago, using that E-Mail address.
Regards
Dave Milbourn (no E).

Protean bought back the Prop Shop brand name. Seems not many know the website is now live. No need for facebook  :-))

Unlike the catalogue the website still uses codes related to diameter and pitch in inches.
This will be harmonised eventually if time permits but just state what you want via the contact form

And do note that Prop Shop uses the prop rotation code Anticlockwise = Left Hand!

Bonjour,
Thanks to all of you, I am a fan of Simon's and made several videos about as I have a lot of them from PropShop time:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN0drJGsdDo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN0drJGsdDo) or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGRDus7uIJQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGRDus7uIJQ)
Everything is fine, Simon was very busy, this is why he had not answered as quickly as usual to my request.
English steam passionates are lucky to have people like him, In France, steam will die soon because because no succession and Chinese products have not (yet ?) a high quality  <:(

I never heard that protean/prop-shop were associated again. As far as I've seen, graupner are the only folk who list their props as "backwards" rotation so normal nomenclature applies normally.

Simon bought his original company name back from Swann last year after they made a complete mess of things. I don’t use anyone else’s props anymore as his cast bronze are far superior. :-))

Yes indeed. Just had a look. What are they like for lead times for a standard item? Cornwall model boats are out of stock on a prop I'm looking for at the moment.  It's 15yrs plus since I last ordered I think.

But like any situation involving quality kit, popularity causes a slow down in supply, so as a general rule, give a company some slack as if something is out of stock it either needs to be made or ordered in.
If a company quotes a turn around time, they mostly strive to be better than that.

I
am not getting at individuals, just commenting on experience where some customers get more and more uppity and then you get a sheepish message saying their order has arrived.

It says the store is not currently taking orders. Is this something that's planning on coming back does anyone know?
