Title: Home made motorbike
Post by: Andy M on June 12, 2019, 10:36:24 pm
Hi, here is my 5hp briggs and stratton generator engined bike, tiny drums front and rear, quad wheels, and no suspension. And pretty fast for a generator.

Is the frame modified from a BMX? Looks cool Andy  8)

Hi , the frame is mostly bits of an electric wheelchair, along with other bits of tubing and a custom headstock my engineer friend kindly made for me. It is a bit fast for its size/ lack of suspension. I have had it at 45 odd on forest tracks but theres more to go if you are brave. It used quad wheels and hubs with cable operated drum brakes which are adequate.

Its needing a carb clean before it will run again.Its on my jobs to do list, along with many others.  My homemade electric bike has taken over as my main two wheeled (fun) vehicle as there are no complaints about noise and I can use it to get to the river for boating purposes. Two batches of enjoyment per saturday/sunday afternoon. I do get strange looks as I pass by with most of a 70cm Atlantic Yacht sticking out the top of my rucksack!

That would make a fine cartoon with enthusiastic motorcyclist being looked at quizzically by passers by  :}

I have had similar looks getting on a bus with a glider with 6 foot wing halves. Didnt have to pay for the seat the glider took up tho.
