Title: Inclined plane on canal at Ronquieres Belgium
Post by: Baldrick on July 06, 2019, 01:41:49 pm
Anyone watching the Tour De France on Eurosport ?    They have given us a fantastic helicopter tour of the boat lift on the Charloroi canal in Wallonia.    What a piece of engineering . FANTASTIC ?

I have used the inclined plane on several time ,it is very impressive . It is a strange feeling seeing the canal just stop when you are going towards Brussles and you are on top of a hill where on our visits there was always a very bad crosswind. Commercial traffic has priority so if it is busy you can finish up waiting a long time ,unless you befriend a barge skipper and go through with him/her .
Brings back good memories Thanks for the post .
