When I watch a programme on i-player, the picture and speech gradually lose synchronisation. After a while this becomes confusing. If I pause the programme for a short while then re-start, the synchronisation is back, but again the picture and sound gradually fall out of step. I had assumed that picture and sound all came as a single digital stream, but I guess not. Anyone else suffer from this, and is there any way of curing this mildly irritating "feature"?

Desync happens a lot through streaming sites when the latency of the incoming video is too high. Like you say, the sound is transmitted seperately to video. You can either keep pausing it / refreshing the page, or lower the video quality to allow for the poor internet connection.
Nothing new, happens an awful lot - especially on sites like Twitch where you're rling on the streamer's internet connection being good enough as well.

Thanks - I guessed it would be something like that. As I am not about to pay £££ more for my internet connection, I will live with the delay.

You can do a speed test.
If the connection is fast enough
and you are watching BBC I Player
or similar sites, then sometimes
a change of adsl filter helps.
I change mine every year as they are
updated by the broadband suppliers
to new customers. Ring and complain
of poor connectivity and, if you have
a phone line as well, complain of noise
on the line. At the very least they will send
you a new filter.
