Title: Searching for Ron Burchett
Post by: shipnut on July 31, 2019, 07:04:52 pm
Hello from Canada's Left Coast     I need some kind person to contact me and apprise me of the most recent email address, phone number or mailing address for Ron Burchett, who formerly built operating tug models.

I realize that Ron has sold his tug moulds, so may not be actively into tugs but I need to contact
him about a tug video I have lost.

In that vein the tug video I am searching for was produced by Shaun Hall about 23 years ago,and covered the gamut of working tugs on the British Columbia coast.
Shaun said at the time that he might include some shots of my marine collectables store in the video, and that portion is what I am actively searching for.
I have lent the video containing the shots of my store to someone, and have never seen it again.
Any help would be much appreciated, and thank you

Ron is on Facebook.
You might also try reaching out to the Burnaby Association of Marine Modelers.

.
Or the Victoria Model Shipbuilding Society.

Good Morning Hugh
I chat with Ron fairly frequently - will mention your post.
Where was your store located?
Mike

     Mike
Thanks for getting back to me.
23 years ago I had a marine collectables store in Cowichan Bay- where I still live, but no store- the store was called 'Ray of Hope Collectables'.
One day Shaun Hall walked in, he was filming a video on BC tugs. When he saw my shop he asked if he could film the shop with a view to including a clip in his proposed video.
Later I received the clip from Shaun, through the kindness of a fellow model builder now deceased name of Burley Smith, which I subsequently seem to have lost. Undoubtedly lent to
someone and never seen again.
After all this time I am searching for Shaun Hall to ask him if I could buy another copy of the clip.
OR I am searching for Ron Burchett, whom I met a couple of times years ago through Burley Smith.
Hopefully Ron might have a copy of Shaun's tug video containing the clip of my store, or Ron might be able to put me in touch with Shaun.
Mike, what do you do in the way of marine modelling? I have built here a couple of 'display' models, but at 81 I am slowing down on the models.
   Thanks again Mike
