Title: Restoration of a Duplex 575 Yacht
Post by: CaptainJoshie on August 30, 2019, 11:04:31 pm
Hi All[/size]As I said in my 1st post after many many years (50+) away from the hobby I am getting my old models out of mothballs. It is the original Duplex 575 I have a request about, does anyone have a copy of the building instructions I could see please?

I have sorted everything with the exception of the rigging. I loan the model and instructions to someone but when it was returned the rigging was a tangled mess and no instructions with it!

I'm still waiting for new bowsies to arrive in the post, then I hope to sort the rigging and get it sailing again.

The original servos were fine! But the old 27Mhz radio and 4.8v NiCad battery pack just would not work. I've fitted a new 2.4Ghz radio and a big 2500mAH 4.8v NiMh pack to provide power. It all works fine.

Help with the rigging details will be much appreciated.

Sorry not much help with rigging and instructions, could not see them on-line.

I restored a 590 last year and suggest you change the sail servo to a new metal gear 10+ kgm servo they are only a few pounds on ebay. or banggood.  Much more powerful.

With the Duplex construction it is a good idea to get a charging socket onto the deck in some way.  Makes life easier.
My one goes very well, good luck with yours.
regards

Roy

Hi All

Well I'm no Sailey so ( at present I have a full size Broom 30 cruiser on The Norfolk Broads) excuse my efforts at the rigging without the Duplex instructions!

I have now had the Duplex 575 on the water, Sheringham Boating Pond, and she sails quite well.

Only one problem was the brand new Absima SR2S radio gear. The throttle stick was very jittery, this made trimming the sails very hit and miss. It is going back for replacement or refund very quickly!

I'll try and add  photos of the Duplex 575 on Sheringham Boating Pond, but don't want to risk loosing this post so will do another post shortly.

Hello, Yacht looks good! Just thought I would let you know that there is another (occasional) reader of this forum in your locality. I have a larger yacht so the Sheringham pond is not really suitable, but I call by now and then to see if anything is happening. It was suggested to me that Wednesday evening is good but of course this just means during the Summer and like you have found the pond frequented by non-locals. Hats off to them for bringing a boat on holiday I say! Sometimes there are people there during the day mid week although I have never seen anything that suggests an "official" get together. Weeends are very busy for me. Perhaps our paths will cross one day.Nick

Well done Nick we Yotties must stick together.  I was at the Black Park (Slough) regatta a week ago and there were rarely less than 6 RC yachts sailing all day!

Many thanks to 'Skimmer Fan' for a copy of the instructions he had.

If anyone now needs copies, I'll be happy to pass them on  :-)) . Just message me.

Hi

The user build instructions and a few other articles are now on this website

http://www.allradiosailboats.com/design/duplex575 (http://www.allradiosailboats.com/design/duplex575)

This is an excellent website with data on many RC Sailboats.

Hope this is of help to the sailey’s out there.
