Hi !
New building from Billing Boats
The Absalon class are support ships of the Royal Danish Navy, commissioned in 2005. The two ships in the class may be described as a hybrid between a frigate and military transport ship with multiple role capabilities, with the capacity to be transformed from a combat ship with the firepower of a traditional frigate to a hospital ship within a day.

Hello !
Two following pictures ........
-
Hi Chris look forward to following this build :-))
-
Hey Chris,
How well do the frames fit inside the hull?
-
HDMS Absalon - on the TV right now. Discovery Science +1 channel :-)
Regards,
Ray.
-
Hi !
To Martin
Frames are laser-cut parts on wooden boards. The reinforcement frame fit perfectly in the hull and must be glued to the hull.
-
I fitted radio gear to one and the engineering of the kit is most excellent. However the use of self adhesive stickers for things like anchors (!) and grill work leaves something to be desired. However, as a basis for a bit of super detailing, a very good start.
Also, I hear it sails really well, which is a bonus!
-
Hi unbuiltnautilus !
I agree with you concerning adhesive stickers for things like anchors. For the price of the kit they could have added anchors !
For example, I’ll build her with a bow thruster.
-
Hi !
2 pictures as follow .....- Model equipped with a bow thruster- Assembly of the 2 parts of the sonar bulb and realization of one of the 2 housing of the anchors. In the kit, the locations of the 2 anchors and nozzle outlets of the bow thruster are made of adhesive stickers.

HI Chris this looks a good build I will be following to see how you get on as im building HMS TIGER in 1/72 scale on here

-
Hello !
Central and rear radar masts assembly and general view on the superstructure.
-
Hi !
Installation of the rudder control system. I modified the location and housing of the control servo by moving it a few centimeters back from the stern in order to have access to its disassembly in case of a problem.
-
Hi !
Deck over hull. Being in one piece in the kit, I cut it into 3 parts: front, middle and rear bridge; easier to install! Then , operations "masting" and "sanding" between the hull-deck joint. On the front deck, one will notice the access hatch to the bow thruster.
-
Looking Good! :-))
-
Hi !
Entrance to the helicopter garage.
-
Good God, that looks frighteningly close to being a kit that fits together perfectly!
The superstructure work looks great Chris :-))
