Lovely little model. I have never owned one but enjoyed those that belonged to others & the Antje which, I believe, shared the same hull.
Oddly neither of the two Pollux models that I was familiar with used the recommended 140 motor unit. One use the next size up 380(?) Multispeed and the other a low rpm 540. Both were nice models & capable of pushing/pulling.
I would still like a go at one of the similar Amera W103 models but not top of the list:

To think i paid about £40 for the kit and geared motor many years ago and its still going strong pushing and towing huge models with ease.
Cant understand why the new released kit is so expensive otherwise i would have another one for the kids to play with.

I guess part of the answer is inflation but the new kit also has the propshaft, prop, rudder, deck fittings etc included. Remember that Graupner has got into financial trouble selling the kit at both prices! The new kit is also slightly wider than the old one.
The £40 is still nearly possible if you ignore postage costs I think. You could put together an Amera £24, 385 motor £5, 30mm/40mm Radio Active Prop & Shaft £5, rudder £5 and use a flexible tube coupling.

I don't think the kit did include the Multispeed 140 (motor, gearbox, shaft, prop) unless they sold two versions (one with one without).

To my knowledge it did not, but could buy it as an upgrade, at the time I do not think it was much more.

Bought mine in 1999, from one of the local model shops, brand new and complete with the motor etc, all up cost? £25.00
Sadly, both model shops now gone...
Incidentally, the model is still running now.
I'll try and get a couple of photos next visit to the lake.

They were, but as has been mentioned a near as dammit replacement can be bought from Amera.
Few pictures I have of Original Pollux's and models built on the hull.. I particularly like the Applegarth..
Not sure if the Red one " Lora" is a Pollux hull .

My father bought one of the new ones, the RTR kind - rubbish. Had to replace the radio and speed controller just to get it to work. Better to just purchase the kit and fit your own quality electrics.

Why pay ebay prices !! if you can find one , easier just to purchase one of the Amera kits as they are near as dammit the same, Unfortunately reading the above post re the RTR ones it look like the same issues that the RNLI Digital's had with the lifeboats, mine blew within the first few usages and is now in the dock yard awaiting a refurb with some proper electronics. Everyone I know who has one has also converted them.

I don't think Graupner have gone, they've shut the German facility but AFAIK the product line continues, only all work will be in the far east.
