Title: 1936 pond yacht restore started
Post by: amity lake on December 28, 2019, 04:53:34 pm
I got this 40" hull only, no deck, before Christmas and have a start on bringing it back to life.
I installed deck beams and built up the rudder post area to deck hight.
I used mahogany and douglas fir for the deck and trim rail. Some of the deck hardware are A J Fisher pieces. some of the brass i made myself.
I have made the mast and booms.duglas fir laminated and shaped.
Doing research i found info in a 1932 book by Claude Horst- Model Sail and Power Boats that show a 40" sloop of the same hull shape as mine.
So i think i will try to rig it this way.
I believe it is called a Lug or Gaff rig as compared to a Bermuda rig.
This book is an awesome  book. I recommend buying it if you can find it on the web.
An excellent resource if you like pond model sailing yachts.
Posting photos here is a real big pain in my keel.
