My dear old Dad would suggest wearing of either PVC and cotton gloves when wood turning was not really a good idea <*< ............ Derek

The first guy seriously needs to be told about plywood to stop him wasting all that wood but the second guy- how he isn’t dead surprises me, surely at least a broken arm or wrist from his actions.

Most of our workshops could happily double as torture chambers given the range of sharp and blunt intruments they contain.

The main problem is inconsistency. We allow students to use band saws after training but not circular saws (our insurers would have a fit!) However, the student could go down to Screwfix or Machine Mart and buy a circular saw to use at home without any experience or training.

You or anyone can buy a huge range of saws, drills, all powered, with your groceries and wine from Aldi Lidl or even the bigger supermarkets at times. I am amazed they don't sell personal protection right beside them, but perhaps no one is interested so not profitable. Ned
