HO Colin I was under the impression this show was dead and buried but who knows.
I imagine Longbuild Larry will know most of the ins and outs of this. I had heard that the show wouldn't continue after last year - certainly not at that venue - due to a huge increase in the rent asked by The Jockey Club for the site and facilities but, as Mr Reffin says, who knows? These are uncertain times.

Although the intent of this thread is fine, it does seem a little pointless now.  I guess all boat shows, club open days, club meetings, etc. are cancelled until further notice.  It might be simpler to put here anything that is going ahead - although I reckon that could be a very short list at the moment.  {:-{

The hope of running the Ellesmere Port ModelBoat Show in August has now been dashed, some members being in the "endangered species" category and are confined to barracks until the 16th. August.  It looks like 2020 is going to be written off completely as regards shows with only individual sailing taking place following government guidelines as well as local council rules. Hopefully with all this time onnour hands there will be many new builds and maiden voyages in 2021.Keep well everyone.

Meridienne Exhibitions, organisers of the International Model Boat Show,
 have announced that the 2020 exhibition has been cancelled as a result of the impact of Covid-19.

The decision to cancel the event until November 2021 ensures safety and will enable the team to deliver the highly popular event without compromise next year.

Chris Deith, Exhibition Director of Meridienne Exhibitions explained:

“Like many other organisers we have been watching the criteria for events unfold.  Venues are only currently planned to reopen from 1st October subject to successful outcomes of the mass gathering pilot studies.   There are also ongoing government restrictions in place for the continuing management of this pandemic which are subject to change at any time.

We are positive that considerable social distancing measures will need to be in place regardless.  We feel these would have a significant impact on our ability to present the event to the normal size and format for everyone’s enjoyment. Therefore, we have come to the sensible and responsible decision to cancel the event until November 2021.

We are aware that our loyal supporters will be disappointed with this decision but it would not be right to organise an event that does not meet the high expectations that have been set over the last 22 years”.

Any visitors who have purchased an advance ticket already will be refunded directly.

Please follow Twitter @ MeridienneEx or Facebook Meridienne Exhibitions LTD for all the latest news on the events.
