I would be interested to know from members with a fireboat in their collection, and see if poss, if you have painted the boat in anything other than the usual
Red, Black and Grey colours that are normally seen.
Thanks, I hope.

You could potentially paint the hull sides white instead of black for overseas use. Look at Range Safety Launches based in Malta and Gibraltar for reference.
I take it it’s the 46ft FireFloat of which only two were built so real colours are restricted to the black, grey and red scheme.

What he said... I don't think the 2 fire floats ever made it overseas but if they had the Mediterranean scheme would look pretty good.

Actually it's the 34 inch model will have twin motors.
There's a lot of fireboats around and while some modellers like to have the authentic look I thought I might consider something other.
Possibly black and Grey hull, a mahogany deck, cabin colours not decided?

A "what if" scheme is fine but you need to be prepared that it may draw a negative reaction. The "crash tender" or Fire Float is a model that is ingrained into the model boat community. They show up at every model show and I think every club has at least one. That said, it's your boat and you can paint it any colour that pleases you. Good luck.

I take on board your comments. Two or three sailing on Lake at once can get a bit confusing tho!
Thank you.

I have often looked at this site Dave. Just been through the entire collection of photos, well over 175 and the models section, being in colour was superb.
I can say that almost every boat conformed to RAF colour specs! Black with red hulls.
Rather obvious I suppose.....
So, with that evidence I can only conform myself, to standard colours !
Thanks.

As RAF launches said, black, grey and white are your colours. The RAF was actually better than the RN at laying down their colours and sizes of numbers, roundels etc. starting in 1928 with their first Marine Craft Regulations. The Fire Boats came under the 1947 issue. Interestingly they used 2 BS381C RN colours at a time the RN wasn't using them. The light grey was 31 then known as Light Battleship Grey now 631 Light Grey and for steel decks they used 32 then Dark Battleship Grey now 632 Dark Admiralty Grey. Both easy colours to get from your local paint shop.

Thank you mud way.
What is a mooring vessel, as quoted on the lower sheet? (Below waterline painted red)

I wouldn't be surprised if that was a name given to Seaplane Tenders.

My guess is those marine craft used to moor out the flying boats after they landed.
