Title: Component Shop website
Post by: mrlownotes on March 01, 2020, 11:47:39 am
It's Sunday afternoon 1st March.
Is anyone else having problems trying to view the Radio Control battery section on Component's webite ?
I've tried accessing from both PC and mobile web browsers.
I'm maybe wrongly assuming Iain has it offline whilst being updated?

Seems OK for me too.... all pages or any one in particular?

It must be just the wrong link in the page. If I let the auto menu take me down to the lowest level I want (battery category) it works OK.

I was clicking on the link in the battery picture page. The link simply refreshed the same page and does not take you any lower level.

There are a few minor quirks in the way the website works I have noticed depending from where you access certain pages and what you have been doing. Going back to the main menu is usually the answer.

It doesn't work for me, on my tablet. Seems to be ok on PC.
Batteries, motors, Esc's do not show the full range.
I emailed them sometime ago. They thought there might be a problem, in their reply, but evidentially it's ok their end.

pc phone and tablet.  go into the various main menus but then all subsequent menus show only LED lights

The links on the batterys page seem to just refresh the page.  Going to the home page, selecting batteries from the products, then picking out the type and voltage from the pop-out menus seems to work OK.

I get exactly the same result as Klunk. Led lights instead of batteries or motors.
Not really a problem as I phone my orders anyway but a bit inconvenient.

No similar problems with Firefox on Windows 7 PC, but the word has gone out for Iain to have a look at it. With the impact of coronavirus on the supply line from China he must be a very busy man - if not also a very worried one.

Seems not to like working on my Samsung phone and Samsung tablet. Perhaps it doesn't like Android operating system?
Works fine on my PC windows 10.
This morning I get waterproof boxes showing when I look for batteries.

Have you tried scrolling down the screen a bit from there? You should then get pictures of different types of batteries, all with the Magic Pointy Finger to open the link.

Just now I got as far as the page displaying all the types of batteries. I selected the radio control option and got only a motor and a single strip of led lighting!
It used to work fine sometime ago but not anymore.

I tested it in my Samsung android phone, no issues.

Well, thats proof my untested theory is not the answer.
I can think of no other reason now.

Hi, when you go to the battery products page, type what you want to look at in the search box
That should get the info you require

That sort of worked! I had to select 'look at all search results' after typing in ' 9.6v batteries'.
Nothing came up under 'radio control' batteries.except a selection of leads and connectors!

I've been having this trouble for several months. But looks promising now.  Thanks.....

It can be difficult to get a website to be 100% compatible with all the different devices and levels of operating system software that may be trying to access it.

I certainly agree with you, these things crop up unexpectedly, like the eBay format on my tablet is different to that on Windows 10 PC.

Many smaller company websites are not configured to work properly across all platforms ie pc, android and iOS and that's before you consider the different browsers Chrome, Firefox, Safari and plug ins like Adobe Flash etc so work 'after a fashion.'
Best bet is try one browser and if that doesnt seem to work, try another.

Componentshop website hasn't worked for me on Android for many months. I've just waited until I was back on windows. But I must admit it's been a bit enfuriating  looking for stuff. For many months now I've looked for something and only got led products until I check on a Windows machine. I thought it was par for the course now.

This is tickling me you all complain  about a website publicly but has ANYONE bothered to contact the web site owner and have a chat to make them aware instead of publicly  slagging them off, that to me would be the decent thing to do .But of course what do I know, I don't think logically do i

I personally emailed Component shop several weeks ago with this enquiry and received a favourable reply thanking me for bringing it to their attention,
They were looking in to it.

So that would be before half of China - where CompShop's main supplies come from - was effectively closed down? I think others' priorities need to be appreciated here, chaps. Let's hope for everyones' sake that this coronavirus eventually goes away without causing too much irreparable damage.

the problem lies in what device you use and the build number on microsoft. i can not navigate on my android, latest update on phone or on window 10 pc with latest update. after contacting them over a week ago they rebooted the site and that cured it for me (i also wiped my caches on phone and pc to no avail) technically, this is not  Components problem, its their hosting sites i would think.

There is a problem - albeit one that affects very few people. CompShop are aware of it and I think that's where we should leave it. Poking at it with a stick from arm's length will not fix it.
