Title: Speedline Tamar build
Post by: howard66spary on April 16, 2020, 10:15:08 am
Good  Morning  All
Hope all are keeping safe and well
Now that i  have  more time  thought i would get on  with my 1/12  speedline  tamar  wheelhouse , i think  the question has been asked before but will try again  as once glued could be a problem

1 The  fibreglass wheelhouse  moulding as supplied  with sloping rear walls port and starboard  have a  flange of about  12mm  ,are these reduced  to match the 1,5mm perspex  infill panels as supplied ( the 1/12 scale drawings  show it reduced to about  5mm )

2  Has any one got the measurement required  for part number 31 rear storage wall  to rear of  wheelhouse  this is  quite critical

Thanks Hope  someone can help
Best regards  keep safe

Hi Howard,
Sorry I haven't answered before. I am not sure I understand your questions. What do you mean by "flange"? Maybe you cold copy part of the drawings to a pdf-file and point out?

I remember it was not easy to combine all the parts of the rear of the wheelhouse!

Hi Howard
Those of us building Shannons have found the RNLI 3D virtual tours to be invaluable for detail and positioning parts.

There is a 3D tour of a Tamar available too; just move round  the virtual boat and see what the real boat looks like and recreate that detail on your model.  Study the relationships between panels and fittings to see where parts should come together.    You will readily see that the flanges and infill panels form a smooth end, so don't worry about the measurement - go for the appearance.
