Title: Boating lakes in N Ireland?
Post by: Bob K on May 13, 2020, 11:40:46 am
My wife and I are considering moving to a bungalow near Ballymena when the current crisis permits.

Does anyone know of a model boating lake near there, preferably with a model boat club?

You might check on the obligation to have public liability insurance for sailing your models. In the ROI it was mandatory and cripplingly expensive, which is why we had so few customers there. I couldn't say for NI and maybe things are different now but just a word to the wise, eh?

Many thanks for that info.  I have today spoken with Michael of Seahorses Model Boat Club N.I.  and am checking out their facebook page.  Although members cover quite an area, including some in the south, there is an affordable membership which includes insurance.  Quite a few suitable lakes about, including one only 20 minutes drive from Ballymena.

Much obliged sir !
