Title: Graham engine

Hello
I have the tv1 graham steam engine that I built but need help in putting it into a boat.
The foreword reverse lever is at the side and moves up and down for travel and I don't know how to set up a servo to operate the lever.

Hi Rick


There are many many ways of doing this.  You need to remove the notch system that comes as standard as you need a smooth mechanism for a servo to work it.  The most simple way is just to turn the notched post around so that the smooth side is runs up and down the reversing lever.  Then you just need to modify the mechanism as you see fit for what you want.  Heres a few pictures of how I did it - I removed the revering lever and replaced it with a 3mm rod.  Other builders have modified the actual suppled lever but this will give you an idea.

Rick Maybe you already arrived at a solution but back a while I had the same question  because I didn't want servo mounted above the engine to control the reverser control rod. I was sent a solution (sorry but I forget from whom and cannot attribute) that was easy to make and very compact.  The thing that enables this approach is to add the support column to the engine base.

Thanks for the reminder Kno3, yes the one with red is Bernhard's. Then other is my version his idea.
