Title: Dremel Stylo or.....?
Post by: tonyH on May 26, 2020, 06:04:22 pm
My Aldi Special rotary tool has now died after sterling service for several years. It was one with a transformer so the cable from there to the tool was lightweight and flexible. The current crop seem to be either rechargeable or have a heavy cable straight from a 13amp plug. I've been given one of these by a mate and I just can't get on with it!Has anyone used a Dremel Stylo or has come across an alternative. Not worried about collet type but it must be multi speed.Any ideas?
CheersTony

Hi Tony I also find the current crop of dremels very bulky mainly due to the rechargeable batteries. I now use the driven extension shaft on mine and I find it very manageable and light. The nice thing is you can put any dremel on it that you like.

Thanks Mark for the idea of using the extension. I'll try that properly with the biggy I have but I always manage to find the need to drill a 2mm hole somewhere in the innards of the hull and......well I'm sure you know {:-{

I treated myself to one of these last year. It's an excellent bit of kit https://www.axminstertools.com/dremel-8220-2-45-cordless-multi-tool-plus-accessories-10-8v-104619 (https://www.axminstertools.com/dremel-8220-2-45-cordless-multi-tool-plus-accessories-10-8v-104619)

Thanks Dave but I'd been looking at this as an option but from the dimensions on the Dremel site it's still a bulky bit of kit for those important little places! Supposedly 10" long and even Dremel only give it a 2 star rating (out of 5) for compactness.
