Title: Brushless Motors for Deans Marine 1/24 MASB 33
Post by: ajb63 on June 18, 2020, 12:01:04 pm
Hi All

I am about to start a Deans marine MASB 33 fast anti-submarine boat kit , 820 mm long  fiberglass hull.
will install twin 30mm propellers as that is what is recommended with kit , and run on 1 or 2 3s lipos depending on weight ,as that is what l have in another boat.
As the MASB 33 is much lighter than my previous model at 8.5kg. I'm undecided  on the benefits of either 28mm or 35mm diameter of motor. Also should i be looking at 1100 or nearer 1500 KV .
Any suggestion would be helpful before a take the plunge and buy.
Thanks for looking.
Alan

My Robbe Police Boat is about 80mm longer than your MASB, though it is quite narrow beam (5"). I am not sure of the weight, it's in the garage and it's pouring! I have been sailing it with a pair of 2836 1100kv out runners, turning 40mm three blade props with a pair of 7.2v NiMH packs. It was ludicrously fast - I have temporarily retired it so I can re-motor it with smaller ones, probably a pair of 2830s and 35mm props.

Thanks Dave for reply l think l will go with the motors you have in your set  up 2836.l think the kit comes with twin 30mm propellers. Now need to decide on wattage ,  would prefer to go high to eliminate overheating as don't want to water cool. Any ideas.
