hi Car wash and all who exhibit and visit us each September.  We have been holding off up until the last minute but now it is with much regret the committee decided the exhibition will be cancelled for this year.
With the uncertainties surrounding pupils returning to school by September and whether a large gathering would have been sanctioned anyway, we decided that it was very unlikely to be allowed or indeed wanted by the school.  I have not had responses from the school I assume they are still closed.

We also could not see how we could maintain any kind of social distancing with an anticipated 500+ young visitors over the two days.  We also thought that there woud be some understandable reluctance for exhibitors to 'man' their stands as well.  We have always been involved with interacting with the visitors especially encouraging younger ones to take part etc. and enjoy new experiences.  Anything less than previous years would have been unacceptable to us.

The Good News is that we have the spirit to do it all again next year, let us hope the flesh is willing as well!

The Show has been on-going for around 60 years and 2020 will be the first time we have had to cancel!  We try to stay in the St. Albans area and our current venue at the Townsend C of E school has been one of our best with excellent cooperation from the school who provide great facilities for visitor parking and outside space for model activities.
We hope to see you in 2021

Kind regards to all

Roy Verden (Hon Sec. St. Albans model engineering society)
