Title: Brushless motor mount query
Post by: dpbarry on July 07, 2020, 06:24:01 pm
Hi Folks.

I’ve just purchased these motor mounts which are going to be used in my Mersey and have a query over whether the two mounting holes are sufficient or should I drill another two holes for a more secure system.

Regards

Declan

They're fine Declan
Many motor mounts come with two pairs of holes of different centres to fit different motors so two is normal.
Maybe a dab of thread lock would be a plus

EDIT non of my motors use 4 fixings

HI these motor mounts are from Perkins. The rear of the mount has two semi circle slots which makes mounting your motors very easy. These motors are fitted in my Amati Grand Banks model. Forgot to mention only two bolts on each motor

Cheers Stan.  :-))  How do you find them. Rigid enough??

In fairness Taranis, I thought they were plastic when ordering them  :embarrassed: .

Pleasantly surprised. I'm looking at making up a bracket that will hold the two of them in such a way that I can angle the mounts (independently) to keep the motors in line with shafts.

Just working out distance so I can order prop shafts and props to suit Mersey  :D

Hi the motor mounts in the picture are only held in place with two bolts. Under the rear of the mounts a piece of timber is fitted this provides the angle to the shafts. Holes are drilled in the timber and the bolts were glued in. Once the glue set the mount was bolted to the timber and the complete mount fitted into the hull using Stixall glue. Taranis wiil vouch for Stixall.  Forgot to mention I found these mounts very durable.
