Title: Changed your batteries lately?
Post by: BrianB6 on July 14, 2020, 01:44:32 am
Spare a thought for the astronauts changing batteries on the ISS

Not such a simple job and there are quite a few of them.   Makes one realise what is involved in living in space and how complicated the ISS is when it sails serenely over you at night.

But it's all done in a studio somewhere in Arizona! Or is it Utah?! Or is it in a big swimming pool? Well, according to the fruit cakes, it is!

If it is fake then what is the thing that passes overhead at night?
Pity the public camera has packed up. It gave some good pictures of earth.
Can you see me waving  %%

Let me introduce you to Bob. He's a leading light in the flat earth community. Here's him talking about the ISS and trying to debunk it. Video is from Sci man Dan's channel.

I have an old school friend - a programmer - he thinks everything since the Mercury program is all fake - he truly believes Apollo was fake and ISS is really done on a film set.      His 'evidence' is that it would be filthy inside by now and all their clothes would be like pit-stained boiler suits after a few weeks up there.

He searches the 'net for any crank websites which 'prove' his theories and keeps trying to argue the point via e-mail.

So where does he think all the dirt would come from then - the flat Earth below?

He thinks all the dead skin and sweat from all the astronauts over all the years would have accumulated to make the ISS into a smelly, disgusting tin-can.

He sends me websites where some nut has analysed the speed of Saturn V shadows against clouds as it lifts off to prove that it never achieved orbital velocity so it never made it to space.     Also that the F1 engines never had enough power to lift a real, fully fuelled 3rd stage, command module and lander.    He also sends me fruitcake analysis of moon photos 'proving' they were faked.

They have an air conditioning system which recycles the air. It has filters. They change them. Simples!

But people believe what they want to believe, and sense and logic go out the window ( see also: "Religion")

I see NASA is worried about Boeing’s Starliner crew capsule program.  >>:-(
Does not bode well for its future if its most prestigious venture does not work.  8)
I will try and fly Airbus when we are allowed off the ground.  %)

I want to know 1) what is on the other side of the flat earth. 2) how does the sea stop falling off the edge?

Exactly - there's no gravity so it's all airborne and gets sucked through the filters - I wish I had the same system in my house - no vacuuming.   {-)

The most obvious proof that the earth is not flat is that cats would have knocked everything off the edge by now.

Maybe a flat Earth could be some sort of extra dimensional Mobius strip...

That's not really a trick Colin, we all know that Subphylum Crustaceans can walk upside down {-) .............Derek

A Mobius strip does not look flat to me.   It's all curved.   :embarrassed:

Why did the chicken cross the mobius loop?
..

To get to the same side!   :embarrassed:

Yes, but if it was big enough and you were small enough it would appear flat.

it would also mean you could fall off the edges as the loop is only flat in two directions ( if big enough to appear flat) therefore does this explain why the earth is a sphere, it doesn't matter which direction you travel in you can end up in the same place - eventually, and not fall onto possibly the head of the great turtle  %) :-))  (I wonder what batteries it uses and where you insert them)

That's why I described the Mobius strip as extra dimensional....  ok2
