Dear Customers, we have decided to take full retirement from September 1. May we take this opportunity to thank each of you for your custom. Your support was greatly appreciated over the past thirty years, we've had a ball!
We wish you All the Best for the future.
Lawrie and Jackie

We were very fortunate to have Model Slipway members of Kirklees M B C in those early days.I hope you all agree that Lawrie and Jackie have produced some fabulous models over the thirty years in business. It's sad news that another major trader is standing down. All at Kirklees M B C wish you well in all your future endeavours. I am sure many more clubs will second my comments.

Jackie and Lawrie,
Truly sorry to hear this but you have really earned your retirement and done so much for the hobby. The Model Slipway range has always been considered a standout product of the very highest quality as very many happy boaters will attest.
Best wishes to you both,
Colin

Is there any chance of selling the business to at least give you a few bottles of bubbly to toast your retirement?

As Bob says, that would be good if at all possible.
Colin

Ah this is not good, another of my want list boats i cant get "aziz" as Bob says there is options out and about and a few bottles or more of bubbly do go down well indeed :-))
Enjoy your freedom from the working life well deserved for sure

both all the best in your retirement.
Kind Regards

Jackie do you remember this one.

As announced on the MSW website, Lawrie and Jackie to fully retire with effect from 1 September. Here's hoping someone buys the business!

Hmmm, didnt see this posting! Can a mod delete my post about MSW in the Chit chat forum, please?
Ive had 3 MSW kits and I have to say, they were the best ones I could have bought. I only wish I had bought Conserver when I had the chance and now am very unlikely to be able to do so.
I hope the business is sold and someone can continue it but Im all too aware even without the ludicrous lockdown and trashing of the economy, running a business for a worthwhile profit nowadays is a big ask.
Thank you Lawrie and Jackie, enjoy your retirement.

Yes Bryan, now on display somewhere in Switzerland :-)

I too was a big fan of Model Slipway. I built the Loyal fleet tender about 11 years ago. A pleasure to build, as it was my first somewhat complicated boat. Jackie & Lawrie were a big help when I broke a couple of parts. One email to them and replacements arrived very quickly, no charge, even for postage to the US.

[/size]Have a great retirement, y'all! :-)) O0

Would always recommend model slipway models to people.
Is sad to hear they will no longer be available but
I hope that Lawrie and Jackie have a great retirement
-
Heres wishing them a long, happy and well deserved retirement.

So sorry to see you go. My favourite kit producer of all time. Thank you for the hundreds of hours I have enjoyed building your kits. Thank you for always welcoming my Wife and I at the factory unit to collect kits and showing us around.
Your retirement will leave a great void in our hobby. On behalf of all the members of Derby Model Boat Club, may you enjoy many happy years at your leisure.
Very best wishes from Andy and all our member at Derby MBC.
Take care.

Always had good service from them. Have built 3 Trent's, a Tamar, Wyeforce tug and a Tsekoa II. Fun to both build and sail. Where to find another such class supplier? Best wishes J&L
-
Lawrie and Jackie thank you so much for very fond memories and way too many hours both building and operational use on the water with your models, I do hope someone else takes over and keep the brand going on. Thank you for the great times had by all good luck fair winds and happy trails tassie48

MSW webpage now completely gone. Just a 404 page. Very sad.
-
I feel really privileged to have gotten the guided tour by Jackie last year on collecting my MaggieM 8)
-
Happy retirement Jackie & Lawrie. Thanks for the great models and service. :-)) :-)) :-))
Kind Regards
Wilhelm
(Tsekoa II, Gry Maritha and Maggie M)

Best wishes in your retirement Jackie & Lawrie!
You guys were always honest & pleasant to deal with when I owned Harbor Models 30 years ago and I remember our nice visit when your family came out to Disneyland those many years ago.
Cheers! Troy Waters

A big hole in the model boating scene now, but enjoy your well deserved retirement Jackie & Lawrie.
-
A sad loss to the model boat world. Built three slipway kits (Loyal, Range safety and Maggie) all great builds. Nearly purchased the Assurance about a month ago but kept changing my mind......wish I'd stuck to my guns now and gone for it!!!
All the best to you both Jackie and Lawrie, you will be sorely missed. Enjoy a well deserved retirement. Might see you on a touring site one day!!!

Are there any whispers in the trade that the business \ moulds etc may be sold rather than lost altogether? I know the economy is in a perilous state but Im clinging on to desparation here.

SAME!!!
-
I would love to take on the moulds and keep the supply of the MS range going - but I am sure that it would be way above what I could afford right now.
They are cracking models - I have a few (only one finished mind - Aziz) - and it would be a crying shame not to be able to obtain them ever again.
Have a great retirement Jackie and Lawrie - I think you have earned it :-)) :-))
-
Oh my goodness, how have I missed this?
Have just decided to have a go at one of their kits, got quite excited, went on to order and now I can’t
<:(
Are there any recommendations of kits/companies of a good comparison to these???
-
Mountfleet Models produce good kits and do glass hulls and fitiings. They are also bringing back most of the Slipway kits although this will take time as they are not doing them all at once.
Jim
-
Thankyou that’s great to know.
I really want to have a go with one
-
Lawrie reeled off a list of Slipway models that will not be seen again due to shared copyrights. I think people will find themselves disappointed at how few models might be back. Certainly the Yorkshireman and Maggie M were among eight or more that won't be
-
Speaking to him at last years Blackpool show he had a list that covered an A4 page with double spaced lines, Must have been 10 to 15 names on the page.
