Title: Brushless Gimbal Motors
Post by: malcolmfrary on September 03, 2020, 12:00:13 pm
I've just been considering options for powering small models.
Most of the brushless motors that turn up on searches tend to be too fast, or way too big, or way too fast or both.  But I spotted some gimbal motors which were both small enough, possibly with the right kind of power, and a range of quite low Kv numbers.
Mounting should not be a problem, but getting drive from them might.  some appear to have odd sized shafts, some "hollow shafts".
Then there's ESCs.  There are some on the market that are suitable for boats at really sensible prices, but at a 20A rating are probably very much overkill.  Again, for small models something physically smaller would be better.
Anybody got ideas or direct knowledge of either the practical use of them and/or the means of controlling them?
