Title: switcher type thingy
Post by: Klunk on September 24, 2020, 07:22:55 am
ok, doing a boat up for a person,  who insisted on having a 4 channel 40mhz radio set. I need to turn the lights (gow) on by using a spare channel, so need a cheap bit of equipment. At the moment, it seems theres a relay in it, so when I move right stick up, lights come on, butcas it self centers on the stick, they go off.
what's it called and where do I get one. Lots on ebay for Trucks/ cars, is that what im after.
ps not many bulbs, 5 nav lights.

That sounds as if you have the non latching type installed..
You need the latching (memory) type, for example the P69 from action..

Hi Klunk, if you had an ordinary on / off lever/toggle switch and use a servo to push a slotted piece of piano wire so that the inside slot pushed the toggle on the switch across and so turn on the lights.

When the servo returned to neutral the switch lever would just slide in the slot and the servo go back to neutral.  To turn it off you would make the servo go the other way and the switch would toggle across on its own spring.

You may have to drill a hole in the top of the lever switch to locate the operating lozenge shape loop operated by the servo.  The servo only operates the switch at its extreme ends of travel.
Does that work?  Just thought of it.
Regards
Roy

Or just buy a switch on e-bay for about a ten spot.  use them all the time for lights, smoke, radar etc.  Available for all different voltages.
